Facebook to train 50,000 Nigerians in digital skills next year 2018

Last year, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, was in Lagos, where he was hosted by tech companies in the country. During his visit, he donated $24 Million to Andela, a tech company that trains developers.

The gesture showed Mark is interested in the Nigerian tech industry, and going by the publication on GADGET NDTV, Facebook is planning to open a “community hub space” in Nigeria next year. The mission of the hub will be to encourage software developers and technology entrepreneurs and also train digital skills in the country.

By the plan, the Facebook incubator programme would help develop tech startups in the country and also help train 50,000 Nigerians in digital skills.

At the moment, there isn’t detail about the period the programme will take place; the period will be announced in a later day. But unlike the Google digital skills training, which is online, the Facebook digital skills training would be offline.

According to Facebook, the training will be offered in cities including Port Harcourt in the South, Calabar in the South East, Kaduna in the North, and Abuja at the center.
